I'm not feeling this one. The prattling is light and witty, but it's slowed down the story to the point where I'm feeling a bit restless and I'm not feeling any chemistry so I'm going to leave it here. Ah well.

****FREE FROM INSTAFREEBIE**** I really liked this story. Ally is introduced to geocaching randomly whilst on a hike. She's rubbish at it, though. Enter Seth, who would like to teach her. The pair are attracted to each other, but both have painful pasts that they are struggling to let go of. Ally has a bad case of foot-in-mouth disease and Seth is closed off. But both characters are likeable and the story is fun. I am very interested to read the rest of this series and more works from this author.

"The day I saw him, I thought my world came crashing down. It didn't, though, and life continued on."

Geocaching.
This book wasn't just a great read, but an informative one. I had no clue this hobby existed!! Hide and seek, treasue hunting, compass reading, and add in thrill and adventure, and you've got geocaching! Just reading about it made me want to look it up for myself! No joke! :)

Ally Couper just went through an awful break-up, and she needed something to keep her mind off of it. Not to mention, she was having issues getting the promotion she deserved at work. With a chance meeting after hiking one day, she was introduced to the interesting hobby of geocaching.

"I needed to win. Not a Charlie Sheen win. An Ally Couper win."

I loved Ally!! Like, I think we are kindred spirits. hehe:) She's funny and quirky. She has a smart mouth, but doesn't have a great filter. Best of all...She's a HUGE One Direction fan!!! Like, seriously...I love her!!!

She never thought that on her first day seeking caches that she would find the greatest cach of all...Seth Hayes. Fellow geocacher himself, Seth was drawn to her instantly. He, himself, had something to prove. He had a past that haunted him, and he never has moved forward. Not until Ally.

The romance between these two was so sweet and romantic, but also complicated. Seth's past won't let him live in the present. I actually loved the struggle between these characters. It's relatable and you are compassionate for them.

"Do you know what else I am?"
"What?"
"Head over heels for you."

This story also tells a separate story about Ally and her best friend, Chelsea. Oh my gee, that girl is insane! Not literlly, but what she puts herself through is crazy. Chelsea has gotten herself in a sticky situation, and because of that, their friendship falters. At first I wanted to dislike Chelsea, but she grew on me and I kinda wanted to hug her by the end. :)

All in all, this book was great! It was a light-hearted, romantic comedy. Yes, there were some emotional parts that left me tearing up a bit, but it was a wonderful story. It teaches you that taking chances sometimes can be more rewarding that you ever imagined--That maybe your hidden treasure was right there in the open.

Oh! And One Direction rules all!! :) (I had to do it!) Tracy, you rocked my 1D socks off with this one!

I liked the parts about geocaching but the rest was hard to get through and I have to admit there were parts that I skimmed. The main character was hard to like. I got tired of her whining and her personal relationships were hard to read about.

Review originally posted on my blog www.LivingLifeWithJoy.com

When I first heard about Tracy’s novel Caching In, I was a bit mystified because I had never heard of geocaching and hadn’t the slightest idea what is was. For those who have never head of it, geocaching is an outdoor game of searching for hidden objects by using Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates posted on the Internet. It might be easier to explain that it’s like a treasure hunt. You find things called a cache that other people have hidden to find; a cache is the treasure you find. You don’t get to keep it, but you do get to claim that you’ve found it and provide evidence that you found it. It sounds like a fun hobby and it’s always fun and exciting for me to learn about something new through my reading.

Within the first few pages, I knew that Tracy was going to be one of my new favorite authors and had earned herself a spot on my list of go-to authors. I enjoyed her writing style and sense of humor and I can’t wait to read all of her previous novels as soon as possible! The minute I finished reading Caching In I was inspired to read a short story she’d written, Early Bird Special.

Ally has had a string of unfortunate events in her life from a failed romance to a dead-end job and she’s at the point where things are so bad that they can only get better. Her only love interest is Harry Styles [yes, THE Harry Styles from One Direction] but she’s completely happy with her fictitious boyfriend for the moment. When she decides to pick up a new hobby, she meets gorgeous Seth Hayes and it looks like things in her life might finally start falling into place.

One of the things I loved in the story were the strong family bonds and romantic relationships throughout the novel. I truly adored the story of Ally and Seth. It was intriguing, entertaining, and heart-wrenching and I loved every minute of it. I also loved the relationship between Ally and her brother Perry. It’s so sweet to think that siblings that don’t live close can still manage to stay in close communication over the years.

Caching In was not just a fun contemporary romance novel, though it was thoroughly entertaining. It was filled with important real-life issues like infidelity, being the other woman, recovering after divorce, death of loved ones and ultimately learning to move on and be happy with the life you have with the people that matter most.

Sometimes people act with selfish motives and don’t stop to think that what they’re doing will negatively affect the important people in their lives. Secrets. Lies. Backstabbing. When will it ever end? It’s important to stick up for yourself when you know you deserve something like a promotion or a boyfriend that doesn’t cheat on you. It’s sad commentary that sometimes people get screwed over by the people they think they can trust most in the world.

I can imagine it’s difficult when you’re in a new relationship, to move past having been betrayed and not having a jaded sense of life. How can you ever fully trust someone new when you’ve had your heart terribly broken in the past? When we’re in love, we must allow ourselves to be vulnerable. We can’t allow our fears to keep us from the possibility of love. Facing your fears and working through them is what ultimately makes you stronger.

5 stars to Tracy Krimmer, because I absolutely loved this book!

Ally cooper is in a rut; same banking job for six years, no boyfriend, and a day with nothing to do…

On a hike she runs into a Geocaching couple and decides to pick up the hobby herself. At her first find and second Geocaching attempt, she meets Seth at his Bed and Breakfast and he takes her out. Meanwhile, her best friend, Chelsea is in her own type of rut, stuck on a man who already has a girlfriend. When both Ally and Chelsea compete for the same promotion at the bank, Ally’s life will turn on its head and the only constant and stable part will be her growing number of Geocaching finds.

From page one of Caching In, I found the novel to be raw. It follows your average girl Ally and she isn’t all Pretty in Pink or perfect manners. She fights with her best friend. She jumps to the wrong conclusion almost every time. She’s almost thirty, but acts like a rebellious and sullen teenager. She is overly melodramatic, but also gutsy and sticks with her convictions doggedly. She is a girl to be admired, though it is difficult to see her as an adult and not as a eighteen or nineteen years old, because that’s how she acts. She gets overcome by her own emotions and drama and sometimes you just want to smack her for overreacting and jumping to the worst conclusions in both her romantic life and in her relationship with Chelsea. Over time she has to get over her romantic past and move one.

“Maybe this was the problem. For so many years, I maintained the same hair, the same job, and the same things always held me back. ” (Page 168).

The author falls into the trap of describing details of Ally’s environment that aren’t always important to the main narrative and I ended up skimming a lot of these extraneous parts. Krimmer also uses phrases and wording that comes off as awkward and hard to read. At times, though, Krimmer punches off a clever phrasing like the previous quote.

I first tried geo-caching about five years ago and I only went a twice. Like our heroine, Ally Cooper, it was a little too hard for my attention span. Unlike me, Ally Cooper is a persistent woman and this quality makes her story an endearing read.

Ally works at a bank and is trying to make her way in the world. The job's not her dream job, but made better by the company of her best friend, Chelsea. Ally is an anomaly - she swears like a trucker sometimes, she dresses conservatively, she's a fitness fanatic, but she's trepidatious about rock or tree climbing. This yin-yang aspect of her personality also plays out in her friendship with Chelsea... and the ever so lovely Seth.

It might just be me, but I seriously wanted to slap Chelsea a handful of times... nope, Ally did too. It might just be me, but I would have been seriously frustrated with Seth and his hot and cold behavior... no... just me. Ally senses that Seth has something bigger going on, something that must be revealed on his terms, on his timeline and she patiently waits for him.

Ultimately, life changes for everyone, and their journey from broken, lonely, complacent souls, to people living the lives they want is a fabulous read. In many respects I would put this book on the Women's Contemporary Romance shelf. While there is plenty of chick-lit-ish-ness to it, the story Ms. Kimmer weaves takes us to some deeper more soul searching places... and I loved the book all the more for it.

Tracy did not disappoint with CACHING IN. Ally makes me want to get out and try new things (geocaching, anyone wanna go with me? Mom? Dad? Boys, can we do this on our next road trip??). To expand my knowledge and also become a bit more active (said as I sit in front of my computer typing this, ha!). She shows that it’s ok to not fall for the same crap that you did in the past. To learn from your mistakes and take action so that you don’t slip back into your old ways. That letting someone in even if you think you’re not ready isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

And Seth. *sigh* If I meet a man like him, there’s a good chance I’ll consider dating again. (Mom, fam and friends, this is NOT a hint.) He’s sweet and sincere and tall and patient and just…yes. That’s all I can say without doing the whole spoiler thing. Yes.

Grab a box of tissues because you’ll definitely need them. There are a few scenes where the tears were soaking my shirt. I’ve read this story twice (beta and ARC copies) and even knew some of the scenes were coming and STILL cried. To me, that’s a frickin amazing writer. I can NOT wait to see what Tracy has in store for us next! Well done, my friend!!!! <3

I was super excited to read my first book from Tracy Krimmer, as we have become virtual friends via good ole social media. Caching In I was curious about because I’ll be honest – I had never heard of geocaching before this and was intrigued to find out more. I did a lot of Googling on my own to learn about it because I didn’t think we got a ton of information from the book itself, but it was quite interesting to learn about! But in addition to learning something new, I highly enjoyed this story.
Ally stumbles into geocaching kind of by accident and meets a guy in the process. His story was pretty darn intriguing because he has a backstory that we slowly learn about throughout the book that I found fascinating yet so sad. What I also really found interesting was the dynamic between Ally and her best friend Chelsea. Sometimes I honestly couldn’t tell you what I felt about both these women and how their friendship worked, but it made it really real to me, and I always appreciate that while reading.
To wrap this up, I enjoyed all the sub-plots along the way, I connected with Ally immediately, and I learned something new while reading. Highly recommend!

I first heard about geocaching in Colleen Hoover's Slammed series (which I loved) so was excited to find another book involving this gps treasure hunt hobby. I have never been geocaching, but would love to give it a go sometime.

Caching In is a fun contemporary romance. I loved the main characters. They were so real and relatable, but not so flawed that I wanted to slap any of them, well maybe one of them...... The novel had an overall light chick lit feel, but also touched on deeper real life issues, such as cheating and the loss of a loved one. I found this story emotionally engaging. It had me giggling most of the way through it, then caught me by surprise by getting me all choked up near the end.

This is the first book I have read by Tracy Krimmer. I love her style and immediately picked up another of her books to read within minutes of finishing this one.

MY REVIEW

When I began reading Caching In I had no idea what to expect and where this story would take me. On top of the fact that I truly had NO IDEA what geocaching was.

Ally Couper has not had an easy life the past year - her father passing, a fiance who cheated on her multiple times and a dead end job that she can't seem to leave. What is a girl to do?

Then one day while working out she sees a man and a woman surveying property and then locating what looked to be a box.

She asks them what they are doing and they explained to her that they were geocaching, and this is where her life began to change...

After deciding to take on this new hobby Ally throws herself in full force and goes on her first cach. She was unsuccessful, not letting it get to her she moves on to another...Little did she know she would run into Seth and that is where their story begins...

A sexy man, unmarried, is showing interest in her? OMG! What does she do now? Well if you are Ally you ask him out right there on the spot to go geocaching with her!

From that point on this story takes many twists and turns - her relationship with Seth, her best friend Chels troubled relationship, her ex-fiance showing back up, her mother's new found love, the list is just endless!

The writing in this story is seamless, you move smoothly from one story line to the next and you are never lost in translation. Through the course of the book - I have connected with Ally, I have wanted to shake some sense into Chels, I wanted to tell Seth he's making the biggest mistake of his life just to name a few.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is truly looking for a romance that is deep in emotion and has you connecting to the characters on a personal basis. Wanting to know the next question - Where are Ally and Seth now? How is Chels in her new career and new role? So many questions, so little time!

WINE SELECTION

I would pair this piece with a Cabernet Sauvignon which has very earthy undertones. With a combination of cherry and berry aromas and earthy layers it is perfect for this geocaching romance.

I would rate this geocaching love story - 5 glasses of wine ( I never wanted the story to end or the wine for that matter!)

Loved Pieces of It All so I was eager to read this novel. While it was a sweet and fun read, it wasn’t as deep as Pieces of It All and that disappointed me slightly as I had set up my expectations for a similar book. That being said, Caching In was an enjoyable, quick read that introduced me to the activity of Geocaching. I have to admit, it seems like a fun thing to do and I’ve been hinting to my husband since reading this that I’d like to participate (he’s a bit of an “indoor girl” so it probably won’t happen…haha). I would have liked to see more of the geocaching in the novel (leaves it open for a geocaching sequel though).

“Sarcasm with a side of honesty” is how Ally describes herself. I think that’s what I liked most about her. I can relate to such a description as it is how I try to live my own life. Ally was a very real character who made a lot of mistakes and her personality was quite inconsistent at times (which to me is the hallmark of a REAL character). I loved toward the end when she was “not a good friend”. It is so refreshing to see protagonists that aren’t so syrupy sweet and perfect all the time. Several times I wanted to scream at her for jumping to conclusions and acting hastily.

Daryl? What a sleaze! Same with Josh. Ugh. I wouldn’t have even let him open his mouth (See how I internalize all the stuff that happens in the book?). And Chelsea…oh how I hated her! I was so mad at her throughout most of the book and wanted to shake Ally for continuing to be her friend, but then I thought about it…isn’t that what we all do? We have friends that piss us off to no end, breaking our hearts, but we take them back most of the time because mostly, the time you’ve invested in a friendship is worth the pain.

Seth. Seth was a more realistic guy, one who screws up, but only because he’s had pain. He’s the kind of guy you can take home to your mother. I think their relationship progressed a little to quickly for my tastes, but hell, it’s been ages (ahem…22 years) since I’ve dated so I have no idea how these thing work. And I am NOT a One Direction fan in the least, but I thought the little “One Direction” twist at the end was adorable.

Overall, I enjoyed the novel (especially all the flawed characters) and I looking forward to a Caching In sequel!Reviewed by Heather on behalf of Books Chocolate and Wine.

I was delighted to find this blog tour as the book jumped out at me. Why you ask? One reason - geocaching! I am a huge fan of geocaching, have found quite a lot around the country, and enjoy introducing other people to it.

So what is geocaching? Basically it is a worldwide GPS based treasure hunt. You can use your smartphone with an app, or a GPS unit itself. The idea is to use GPS to find boxes, ranging in size, which people have hidden. There are clues which can be used, and you can always gain further information from previous finders comments and/or photos. It's something which appeals to all ages and is great fun.

But onto the story! Ally stumbles into the world of geocaches by pure chance. On hearing about it she decides to try it out as a way of giving her something to do which involved getting out and about. On her first trip out she bumps into Seth, a fellow geocaching fan. Seth kindle offers to help Ally get used to the process.

A shared interest in geocaching turns into something more. But issues from the past come to the fore, and unfortunately true love hits a huge bump in the road. Will the past ruin what is happening in the present, or does fate have a happier ending for this pair?

This is a lovely sweet story about a couple who deserve happiness in their lives. Laughter and tears both feature a lot.

The author really drew me in immediately with the first chapter, and I was engrossed in the story until the end. A lot happens in the story but, for me, the geocaching element certainly gave it that little something extra.

Give the story a try and, should you be intrigued enough, give geocaching a try. At the very least you will hopefully enjoy a great story. But who knows, perhaps you will discover places you didn't know existed.

This is more a chick-lit than a romance, which left me a bit confused and disappointed. It has good, solid writing and characterization, but the majority of the book is spent on building up Ally's character (which I didn't particularly care for) instead of on the romance or any geocaching. I guess I was hoping for/expecting the plot to revolve around Alley and Seth and how their relationship develops via geocaching. It doesn't.

A good chunk of this book is life-story (friends, parents, job, ex-lovers, etc) of Ally. I think women's fiction / chick-lit readers would really enjoy it, it's just not a genre I care for. I like romance. It did have a romance in it, but it is not a romance novel.

I ended up DNFing at 68% in, with less than 20% of that actual Seth/Ally romance and about 5% geocaching. The rest was Ally's life, friends, family, etc. And once the was revealed, I had to give in, as I've seen that being used a few times before.

It is a well written chick-lit story, it just wasn't my cup of tea.

A geocaching love story – it has that edgy, outdoorsy vibe to it, so I had imagined it to be a fast-paced scavenger hunt with enough sappy moments to keep the romantic storyline going.
Not really accurate.

The story moves along quite nicely, albeit it starts in a typical chick lit fashion where the character complains about nearly everything going on and wrong about her life. But it’s forgivable because Ally Couper is just wickedly funny with her self-deprecating ways. It’s not without drama, but it’s the kind of drama that’s quite unexpected because it’s central to the story but it does not really involve Ally directly, which somehow shifts the reader’s sympathy to the other main character, Seth.

I have trouble believing Seth’s actions about intimacy or not wanting to have it while he sorts things out. I’m just not completely convinced that it’s a rational behavior, but it’s highly debatable.

This is a fun read with a clever use of GPS and geocaching to search for love.

The main character was rude, overdramatic, annoying, and made really stupid decisions. She'd yell at people with the slightest hint that she didn't know something (repeatedly). As examples, she yelled at her date because he was "clearly a cheater" (my air quotes) when he cut a friend off mid-sentence and she screamed at her friend about having sex with the boss for a promotion even thought she had NO evidence to support her interpretation of either situation. As I was reading this, I kept thinking I can't imagine how awful it was for her "friends" to be around her. How on earth am I supposed to buy that he fell in love with THAT?

The geocaching part of the story was interesting but rarely very descriptive about what kinds of things people hide and how geocaching actually works (besides, follow an app).

Love this author and her books. As a personal trainer, the premise behind this book called to me. I had never heard of geocaching and was drawn into the story. I have to admit, when i finished the book, I Googled Geocaching and read many posts about it. The growing romance and also the ups & downs with her relationship with her co-worker, kept me turning pages. I already pre-ordered the authors next book!

Probably is just 2 stars because I had a big expectation on the book. For some reason I thought the book would explore a whloe.lot more te geocaching world, ad while doing this things in the character life would solve themselves or get in perspective... but at the end I felt it like a very entertaining book with a lt of drama...don't get me wrong, is an enjoyable read... maybe wasn't for me

I give this 5 Stars for story idea.
It was kind of all over the place. Many actions and words from the characters didn't make them likable. I wouldn't keep a person in my life of they acted the way a supposedly best friend did in this story.

Things I learned from this book: geocaching seems like an interesting hobby and terrible people need love too. The geocaching serves as a good backdrop for this story, but it is just a backdrop. The heroine, Ally, is still getting over a bad breakup and she decides to go geocaching. She meets Seth on her first adventure and a relationship develops. I liked Seth. I just didn't see why he liked Ally.
Theirs is a slow, sweet relationship that would've been great if I didn't hate Ally so much. She was selfish, rude, hypocritical, always jumping to conclusions (usually wrong), and had the emotional maturity of an 8-year-old. For example,
Ally has a best friend, Chelsea who makes terrible life decisions. At first, I enjoyed Ally and Chelsea's relationship - Ally attempts to walk the line between supporting her friend and telling her the hard truth about her situation. However, it becomes clear as the book goes on that this is a pretty toxic friendship.
I skipped big chunks of this book and found myself hoping that Seth was a red herring and Ally would go on to meet a terrible man who was perfect for her, but that wasn't the case.

You gotta love a book that makes you investigate a new hobby! Geocaching is something I knew my brother had enjoyed. After finishing this book, I had to ask my brother about his Geocaching experience and he said, “Yes it was fun, was a great reason to go walk around state parks and not just walk but have an adventure while walking.” Geocaching is like a treasure hunt…People leave “caches” in various locations (like parks) , and you are to go and “hunt” for it.
Tracy Krimmer writes a truly delightful story. It was a fun read, the kind you look forward to getting back to when you have to step away.
We meet Ally Couper (not to be confused with Ally McBeal..lol). She and her fiancé had broken up 8 months ago due to his philandering ways. She had what seemed like a dead end job as a Bank Teller, and was just going through the motions of life. Until she goes on her first Geocaching hunt, and meets Seth. She is immediately attracted to him….they go out on a first date…which may be their last.
I fell in love with her best friend, Chelsea. I am sure a lot of people don’t care much for her, as she is dating a man that already has a girlfriend..so, she is the “other woman”. She was in this relationship for about two years. Ally hated that she was dating him. It had to be hard on her, being that her fiancé was found cheating on her.
I did have a hard time wrapping my head around their friendship, as it seemed to be fueled with a lot of resentment..but I realized by the end of the book, that most friendships go through these stages.
This story had a lot of intriguing story lines, and I was immersed in it from page one.
If you want a fun, quick witted, chick lit read… This is a Must!!
I am already reading book two in this series, “Jay Walking”…and loving it!
I am so happy I met Tracy Krimmer along the way….Her books are a delight!

Well,...... I promised to give an honest review in exchange for the ARC from. Insta freebies. Where do I start? The story. First of all props for writing about geocaching - it was about time! Nice idea. But then you find there is a lot less geocaching going on than expected. The story arc at times is really well-constructed (sorry, I don't want to spoil the story by telling what happens which is the problem reviewing something without citing examples from the text), then it sort of falls apart again and you ask why. Same goes for the characters. They range from loveable to inconsistent, especially the relationship between Ally and her childhood friend Chelsea - one minute they are besties only to throw each other under their boss 's interrogational bus the next minute. And I haven't met a couple before that was so reluctant to talk to each other which made the falling in love somewhat implausible . Style :there are a number of spelling mistakes that make me wonder if the author used a dictaphone, a couple of double or left out words, so the editing probably took place after the ARC was sent out. Development of story and character : I'm not sure what is happening. The male MC seems to make progress in the end, Chelsea, too, Ally.... I'm not sure about her character. Honestly :the book left me somewhat distanced and didn't manage to drag me into the action like I expected. There are some logical inconsistencies, like if somebody is standing so close he can touch him your arm he can't suddenly come up from behind. And have you ever seen a caterpillar with a tight grip?Mind you the tree climbing experience has got a nice pull. Then the twosome get hot and heavy in the hotel room only to leave the curious reader with a blank space after "I am ready". Sorry if I am less than enthusiastic, but I said I'd be honest.

Ally broken hearted and frustrated in a job that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere is ready for a change. On a weekend hike she stumbles upon a couple Geocaching and decides to try it out. This is where she happens upon Seth. Who happens to be far more apt at geocaching then she is and offers to show her the ropes. Finding herself falling for a guy when she had finally decided to swear off men has left Ally with just enough hope to give her the confidence she needs in her life.
Ally is a funny, quirky girl with an odd love for One Direction and is hard not to relate to her! Her knack for telling it like it is often seems to find her at odds with the people she loves, not because it’s not true-but more because she doesn’t sugar coat it. Her journey through the book is one that is so easily relatable, working through her trust issues and trying to cope with losing her dad allow you an insight into the self-growth that she experiences throughout the story.
This is a sweet romance about two unlikely people finding their way out of the pain from their past with hope for better to come in their future. Along with the romance of Ally and Seth, you get a story of friendships with Ally and her friend Chelsea. As well as some amazing friendship lessons that just about any girl can relate too. Overall this was a sweet read and I look forward to reading more of what Tracy Krimmer has to offer!

Reviewing for Books Reviews, Blogs & Amazon Links.

First can I just say, that I had no idea what Geocaching was so for me to read something and actually learn something new? I loved that. And it also really helped that is a great book. It was well written and I laughed out loud a few times. Sometimes it was a little bit awkward in moments but what isn’t?
I was hooked from the first chapter, it’s that kind of book. It was unexpected treat, I didn’t expect it to draw me in as it did, but it really did. It was so raw in some places that I commend Tracy for that, but in some places it felt like it focused on parts that didn’t need to be focused on as much.
The main characters Ally & Seth? I rooted for them from the very beginning. They felt like very real characters to me and I love that in a book. Ally is stuck in a rut and she happens to find geocaching simply by chance, this is where she meets Seth. But like in every good story, something threatens to break them.

Would I recommend this book to people? Hell yes. This book is one of them that knock you off your feet but keep you grounded at the same time. With real characters, with real situations, read this book.

4 stars!
Well done Tracy.
