Top 10 Tuesday: The “Incomplete List”

It’s Tuesday and I haven’t done a Top 10 Tuesday in quite awhile. There’s a few reasons for that. First, I’ve been so focused on other things I honestly forget to think of a top 10 Tuesday before Tuesday is even over, and second, I never can think of a good list.

Today while napping I started to think of all the things I should be doing other than taking a nap. That’s how today’s Top 10 Tuesday list was born.

Top 10 Projects I Intend To Complete, But (Probably) Never Will

1.) Reorganize the closet. My husband and I have a walk-in closet. We each own an L, basically. His side is gorgeous. One side contains a shelving unit and the clothes he doesn’t hang are situated perfectly on it. The rods are hangers full of clothes – separated in sections by work shirts, exercise shirts, short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts, and tanks. My side? A huge, overpouring mess. I have a sewing machine, school papers, wrapping paper, books, old phone cases. It’s a horrible sight. I need to organize it and clean it up. It could be SPECTACULAR. Sure, I’ll clean it up one day, but I doubt it will ever look like I want it.

2.) Finish scrapbooks. My scrapbooking phase lasted about two or three years. I have two that are 100% complete and two that aren’t. For one of the incomplete ones, I pretty much need two pages to finish it. The other one is barely a third of the way complete. I can’t seem to bring myself to get rid of any of the supplies because of course one day I’ll pick it back up. Who am I kidding? I should just store it all away. (Yes, most of this stuff is in my closet).

3.) Redecorate our bathrooms. We have two bathrooms upstairs. In one bathroom, we paid the previous owners $10 and they kept everything in there for us when they moved – the shower curtain and the clock and picture. I really want to paint it and redo all the decor. In the bathroom in our room, I have old country pictures, a huge set of blinds I need to wash, and the curtain needs a good cleaning, too. I’ll keep thinking about it and never getting it done.

4.) A gorgeous patio. We have a pretty normal looking patio. It’s a slab of concrete. Done. Outlining it is mulch and two plants on all three sides and two stepping stones. I don’t like the mulch. We would have so much more to our patio if we put decorative brick around it. Did I mention we have pergola? The pergola provides no shade whatsoever and the pillars just take up space. I know there are downsides to brick, which is why we haven’t moved forward with it. Oh, not to mention it would be my husband’s project, and I know he doesn’t want to do it!

5.) Granite countertops (and one with an overhang!). One of the things that attracted me to this house was the kitchen. My last kitchen didn’t have a ton of counter or cabinet space. We had a pantry, but it still didn’t compare. The kitchen is pretty stock-made. One thing I have always wanted was granite countertops and I want one counter to overhang slightly so we can put stepstools there. It would make an awesome writing nook (right now I stand at the counter) or a place for homework in the future. If we’re going to do this, though, we might as well remodel the entire kitchen.

6.) Shred everything. Part of the reason I don’t clean up that closet mentioned in #1 is most of it is probably items I need to shred. I hate sitting and shredding, and if I take it to Office Max I need to pay. It was so much easier when I could stick it in the locked bin at work (tee hee). I’ll have far less paperwork in the house if I would just DO IT!

7.) Sewing. There aren’t many things I need to sew. I know there is a stuffed animal laying around with half a tail, and we have a pillow with a tear. Honestly, both of these would take a mere 5-10 minutes each, yet I can find the energy to do it. I know my mom has offered to do it for me, but she doesn’t need to do that. I just need to DO IT!

8.) Nap. Yes, I put that in here. I realize this blog post came to me while I started a nap, but I rarely DO ever nap. In the past a nap was so easy. Then I became an author and now my mind is running ALL the time. Add that I’m now a Jamberry consultant my mind is racing even more every night. The second my head hits the pillow a thousand thoughts and ideas take over. So yeah. A nap.

9.) Sorting recipes. I subscribe to a ton of cooking magazines. The funniest part? I rarely cook anything new, especially from the magazines. I’ve always told myself I would go through the magazines and tear out the recipes I really will try. Then, I need to make them that year or they get thrown out, too. This way I cut down on magazines that clutter the house AND maybe make some great meals in the meantime.

10.) Rewrite “The Jealousy Game.” If you don’t know, I have another book that I published back in 2012. This was my first full-length novel and a thriller (much different from the romance I write now!). When I put it out, Kindle was new to me and I was so excited to share my writing. I didn’t have beta readers or anyone to edit it. My reviews proved that. I took it off sale when I went to romance and I keep telling myself I should rewrite it as a romantic suspense novel. Maybe one day. Yeah, right.

There you go – my list of 10 projects I’ll (probably) never get to. If I’m lucky, maybe I’ll finish a few.

But don’t count on it.
