Miss Chick Lit Pageant: A Cheesehead In a Bathing Suit (and a Gift Card Giveaway!) #ChickLitMay

Welcome to International Chick Lit Month! To celebrate this awesome tribute to a fun, light genre, a group of Chick Lit authors have come together for a week-long blog hop of fun! Today we kick it off with a beauty pageant consisting of characters from our books, only the winner isn’t one of the characters – but it could be you! Read the post and at the end you’ll get instructions on how to enter!

Let’s get this started!

Miss Chick Lit Pageant 2015

Realistic head cheeseIntroduction:

Hi, my name is Ally Couper, and I’m representing the cheeseheads of Wisconsin! I’m a twenty-something bed and breakfast operator who loves coffee, Doritos, and challenging myself physically. My dream is to log a geocache every day for a year. I think I’m on my way!

Bathing Suit Competition:

Bathing suits really aren’t something I love to pick out, and I don’t know what strutting around in a bathing suit proves anyway. At least I wasn’t required to wear heels. Choosing a suit for this event proved difficult because I’d much rather be in yoga pants and a tank top. I usually wear a cover-up, but was told it was “frowned upon.” So, here I am in my Amazon find. It’s nothing spectacular, and it wouldn’t put me in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition, but I really don’t care.

My Talent:

My talent is one that a year ago never could have been. With the help of my boyfriend Seth, I am now super stealth and I can find a cache hiding almost anywhere. You won’t even know I’m looking for one. The best thing about being sneaky is me and Seth are now pros at being romantic in public places without anyone even knowing (we think!). Too much information? Well, then, you shouldn’t have asked the question.

Interview Question:

What is your favorite chick flick and why?

Hm. Tough one. I have to say Sixteen Candles. Samantha Baker (Molly Ringwald) is about as clumsy as I am. Back in high school, I had quite a few embarrassing moments, which will stay buried with me. That age, too, is such a sensitive one and I love seeing all the things Samantha goes through. It’s totally relatable.

You can be a beauty queen too with this $100 gift card!

In order to be entered, you will need to respond to the same interview question Ally was asked during the pageant. Answer in the blog’s comment section along with your e-mail address! One winner will be chosen via Random.org on Monday, May 18th.

Q: What is your favorite chick-lit movie?

The Grand Prize for this international drawing will be:

US/Canada winner – $100 gift card to Sephora

UK winner – £65 gift card to Lush Cosmetics

Australia winner – $125AUD to Mecca

You can enter at each of the blogs participating in the pageant. So, that’s 18 chances to win! Be sure to hop over to each pageant participant! Links below.

Are we talking chick flicks or movies based on chick lit novels? Or movies with a chick lit feel? 🙂 I know Coyote Ugly and Romy and Michele’s HS reunion would make it into the third category for sure. I love Bridget Jones’s Diary from the 2nd category. And way too many to name in the first. 🙂

  • I will proudly and without shame say that my favorite chick flick movie since I first saw it on VHS is Dirty Dancing…sigh. Love the music, love the man. Yes I have it on DVD(but not blu ray, and ONLY the original, no sequels), sherri3545@aol.com

  • 10 Things I Hate About You… would that be considered a chick-lit flick? It’s a classic for me and an all-time favorite. Just in case that one doesn’t count…. These three would tie for first; Miss Congeniality, Legally Blonde and The Proposal. Romantic comedies are my absolute favorite movie genre [surprise, surprise, right?]. I could list movies for days, but those three are definitely at the top of the list.
