OpenBook

It’s another Open Book Blog Hop day and today we’re discussing New Year’s Eve plans!

Years ago, New Year’s Eve typically consisted of playing board games until midnight. Sometimes we would turn on the shows and wait for the countdown until that magical midnight kiss at the start of a New Year. Now?

In bed by ten. And that’s probably being generous.

I’m in my mid-thirties and I think every single year my ability to be a night owl decreases a little bit more. The latest showing of a movie I can attend is 7, and if a band doesn’t start playing until 9, I’m not going. This pretty much puts New Year’s Eve on hold for me.

I’ll admit that every year I say I’ll do it. This will be the year I stay up to watch the ball drop. I’m in the Central Time Zone, so sometimes I will watch it in the Eastern and pretend it really is midnight here. Then I can technically say I made it. This year I may attempt to take a short nap before midnight. I’m sure that nap will turn into bedtime and I’ll miss the clock turning from 11:59 to 12:00.

What can I say? I’d rather be sleeping.
