Sparing the Heart is LIVE!

Sparing the HeartHappy St. Patrick’s Day! That should bring me some luck, right? I hope so — today Sparing the Heart is live and available for purchase in the Kindle store at Amazon.

This has been a long day coming. Since I wrote Caching In, readers have asked about Kate Hayes, Seth’s sister who was a little, well, bitchy in the book. She wanted to protect her brother. Well, now a few years later, it’s Kate’s turn to protect herself. In this book readers get an insight into her life and understand her a bit more. While this is part of the Pastime Pursuits series, it can be read as a stand alone novel.

Today is going to be a whirlwind of emotions. I’ll be sick to my stomach with fear, excited and smiling and jumping up and down, and dreading and looking forward to reviews. I’ll eat a donut. Yes, I will. Don’t worry — I accounted for it in my macros. Those of you who follow me on Twitter & Instagram will understand that!

Here’s the thing. I’m not a best-selling author. I’m barely a selling author. But I don’t care. I write. I love to write. Even if I didn’t have the capability to publish my books, I would still write. I have to. It’s part of me. I want to share my stories with the world. And I’m grateful to the people who want to read my words. I’ll try not to stalk my sales numbers, I really will. But I’m lying. I’m sure I’ll check them throughout the day, and I’m not expecting a lot. I had some pre-orders, though, so I know people are reading the book. And I kind of want to puke. Releasing your creative work into the wild is scary. You’re either supported, succeeding, & on cloud nine or veering down a winding path of solitude and disappointment.

I always hope for the success and teeter-totter on disappointment.

creative work

None of this matters, though. It’s done. I hit publish, the book is out there, and it’s open for praise or criticism. Some will love this book, others may hate it. But no matter what, I wrote and published my 4th novel and that’s pretty fricking awesome.

Maybe I’ll see a rainbow today, and if I’m lucky, there will be a pot of gold at the end … except instead of gold, it will be readers.

Here’s a little bit about Sparing the Heart:

Realtor and amateur bowler Kate Hayes is the ultimate fixer-upper at this stage in her life. Grieving the death of her father, she moves to a brand new town for a fresh frame. She quickly realizes, however, that location isn’t everything she’s always preached to her clients when she finds herself falling into the same bad habits. To break the cycle, she joins a local bowling league and meets handsome – but taken – meteorologist Kellan Valentine. Will their friendship lead to sunny skies or it is another forecast for disaster?
