I didn’t post initially I was beginning National Novel Writing Month on November 1st. I usually do a few posts prior to the start, but this year was a little crazy. Now, on November 15th, I’ll be halfway through, and if I keep going as I am, I will be at the 25K I need to be on November 15.
I’m working on a new project, as always, and it’s more than likely going to be a rock star romance. I have a title, All That Glitters, and I have a cover already. The reason I say most likely is because my books tend to be Women’s Fiction/Coming-of-Age or chick lit. This book is more of a romantic feel, and that’s my focus, though there is also a lot of tension between my main character and her grandmother, as well as with her ex-best friend. This is my first draft, so we will see what happens.
I’m doing a pretty good job at keeping up. I’ve only gotten behind twice, and both times I caught up the next morning. My goal is always to try and finish by Thanksgiving, but I don’t think that will happen this time around. It would be nice if it did, though. A pleasant surprise!
I’m pantsing it this time around. No outline. At all. I’m letting the story tell itself. I like where it’s going, but I know I have to go back and make some changes in the next draft. This is why I love NaNoWriMo, though. There are no rules. I can write and think about all of that later.
Are any of you participating in NaNoWriMo? How are your words coming along?
